Usually where the water line enters the house — near the water heater, in the garage, or in a ground box by the street. Look for a valve on the main pipe.

Turn it off
Round handle: turn clockwise (righty-tighty) until it stops. Lever handle: turn it a quarter-turn so it sits across the pipe. That stops water to the whole house.
